Psychoemotional Well-being:

In August 2020, I became trained to provide Havening Techniques®, and I am a Certified Havening Techniques Practitioner. (I am not a licensed mental health professional; nor do I claim to be.) I continue learning and mentoring with the groundbreaking work of Kimm Sun in Perinatal Havening.

Havening is a psychosensory modality (a method of therapeutic touch) that works to increase well-being by altering thoughts, mood and behavior by shifting the brain through neurological pathways. It is a simple and elegant technique that can bring a sense of calm and being grounded. It regulates the nervous system and can be applied to help alleviate anxious thoughts and better cope with overwhelm or stress that have been encoded in our systems from prior experiences or wounding.

Havening is beneficial at any point in life to build resilience and to shift feelings of anxiety, sadness, low self-esteem, exhaustion, and other negative emotions and to move into a place of feeling more calm, confident, and capable. Ultimately, this work is self-directed and self-led. I offer my presence to help facilitate and guide so that you may find your way.

I also offer Perinatal Havening, incorporating Havening during pregnancy and postpartum, as these transformative times can often be filled with transitions, uncertainties, anxiety, stress and intense self-reflection. It is particularly helpful for those who have had negative experiences surrounding a time of giving birth.

Sessions are typically 60 mins and can take place by videoconferencing.

What People Have Said about Havening:

“Feeling very raw and vulnerable, I hesitantly decided to contact Lydia to learn about Havening as she was highly recommended by my friend. I am so glad that I did. Over the course of three sessions, Lydia created a warm, comforting space where I could cry my eyes out to release the deep and fresh trauma I had from my recent birth experience. I had been experiencing flashbacks to the three long days of labor which culminated in an emergency C-section. I felt betrayed by those I trusted to take care of me, and could not think about the whole experience without getting emotional. Lydia helped me let go of the tension and fill those traumatic memories with more positive associations. I never felt pushed or pressured to do or say anything, it felt very natural and smooth. Lydia's soothing voice and warm demeanor were absolutely essential to my healing process. I am truly so grateful for Lydia's help.”

“The most beneficial thing about Havening was having a hybrid of feeling like I was talking to someone else about how I was feeling, but also being able to figure out for myself how I was feeling. It felt a little more like journaling aloud with a spectator...Lydia has a very soft voice and empathetic presence that is perfect for Havening, especially if you’re in a position like myself where you’re not sure how you’re feeling before you enter the Havening session.”

“Lydia offers patience, kindness and deep empathy when teaching Self-Havening. She creates a judgement-free zone and made the process of Self-Havening understandable for someone who struggles with anxiety, depression and other forms of emotional/mental difficulty. Her caring and compassionate nature is paired with knowledge in the field and practical application for the lay person. Lydia attempts to show that caring for the whole person matters, and encouraged me throughout our sessions that there are ways to grow and adapt to the ongoing internal battles we can find ourselves in. I have found great comfort in using Self-Havening to help me move towards thriving again, and I’m so grateful to Lydia for her essential role in this journey!”
